A couple of weeks ago, we showed our Level 1 Food Students taking part in sharing normal party food that would be served at a child's birthday party. Since then, they have been planning and, this week prepared a healthier version of the same sort of party food, and they shared their party kai with Room 4 and Ms Sargeant.

This week, we hosted Rachel Solomon and Rosemary Clucas from the Te Ana Rock Art Centre in Timaru. They delivered quality student-centred programmes across all levels of the school to build teacher and student knowledge about the rich pre-European history of Te Manahuna (the Mackenzie Country).

As part of being year 5/6 leaders, our students will aid the transition for our kindy tamariki this year. Room 7 teacher Melissa Neill has developed a program to ease the transition from preschool to primary school for our Year 5 and 6 students and provide valuable support to incoming preschoolers.

Throughout this school year, Mrs. M has led a writing and art group comprising ten talented students ranging from Years 5 to 10. These students are in the process of writing some picture books for readers of all ages.

Congratulations to Summer Smith, Murphy Turner, Sophie Lee, Georgie Gray and Alice Larkins on their successful day at the Mackenzie A&P show, showcasing their Highland Dancing. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💃🏼 Everyone gained a prize in at least one of their events.

Students in Years 1-8 recently enjoyed some tennis skills and coaching with thanks going to the North Otago Tennis coaches. 🎾 👟

Along with other organisations, Twizel Area School students have recently been working on the Mosaic for the Marketplace project run by the TPDA. This is slowly coming together, with every Year 1-10 student able to contribute to our Ōhau Mistletoe mosaic.

The Kai Warmer will be available from Wednesday for students to bring their food to be heated for lunchtime during the colder weather months.😋

Students between Years 9 and 13 who succeeded at the recent High Country Athletics competed in the Aoraki Athletics held in Timaru last Wednesday.

Last Friday, we sent 28 students down to Oamaru to compete at the Year 3-8 North Otago Rippa Rugby competition.

Last Thursday, our school had the exciting opportunity to host a sport skydiving demonstration by the skilled team from Skydive Mount Cook. After months of planning and securing necessary approvals, the demonstration finally took place on our very own school field.

What a regatta! What a journey! The Aon Maadi Cup Regatta week was an experience that not only the rowers, their whānau and the school will never forget but each corner of our town seemed to embrace Maadi Cup fever.

Middle schoolers competed in the Bluelight Police Physical Competency Test in Timaru last week. This involved working as a team to complete a course, including jumping through a window and carrying a 75kg dummy!

Staff in the Junior school have a Paid Union Meeting from 12.30 pm until the end of the school day on Thursday, 4th April.

Congratulations to Year 12 students Sadie and Kiara who have been invited to attend the 2024 South Island Rowing trials at Ruataniwha.

This week, year 1-10 students were treated to a visit from four New Zealand authors and illustrators who are on a tour of the schools in the Mackenzie area. 📚

The Year 12 Biology students are continuing to learn about mammalian body systems. As part of this, they dissected lungs in order to investigate adaptations for gas exchange.
