As we embark on the final term of the year, we’re looking forward to longer days and the start of summer sports. Kicking off the term, we have our much-anticipated Fun Run and the Year 4-8 Athletics events.

With the warmer weather, Term 4 also brings some important reminders. This is a sun hat term, which means all students must wear wide-brimmed sun hats during outdoor activities, including break times, sports, and PE. Please ensure your child has a hat each day.

We also have a growing collection of lost property. To help minimize this, please make sure all uniform items, along with hats, lunchboxes, and drink bottles, are clearly named.

I’m excited to award more WAKA badges this term. It’s fantastic to see so many students proudly displaying their badges on their uniforms, showing off their hard work and dedication.

Our big focus in Social Studies this term is on New Zealand Histories, and the approach will vary across the junior school. Some classes may explore New Zealand disasters, while others might delve into our local history here in Twizel.

For Mathematics, the first four weeks will focus on Algebra. In the second half of the term, we’ll shift to Measurement, with a special focus on learning to tell time.

As we’ll be practising for athletics throughout the term, please ensure students wear flat-soled, sport-appropriate footwear—no Crocs, gumboots, or boots, please.

Lastly, a big thank you for your support with Fun Run fundraising! The money raised will go towards trips and sports events in 2025, benefiting all our ākonga. Let’s keep the momentum going and raise as much as we can to support our ākonga!
