Canterbury Aquatic Education & Water Safety Advisor Dianne Hunter, from Swimming New Zealand, spent the day in the pool with all our junior classes on Wednesday. The sessions were focused on water safety and awareness, to teach what to do when children find themselves in a difficult situation in the water.

Dianne got all children to get in and out of the water safely, submersion, personal buoyancy, orientation in the water, and moving through the water, combined with some fun games. The weather gods looked favourably upon us, although the water in the pool did not warm up accordingly!

The teachers will continue with their swimming lessons every day as long as this is possible, so make sure the children bring their togs to school!
