Room 8 student Oliver Currall gathered his friends and family for a Clean Up event on Saturday last week at the Twizel River. Clean Up Week is part of the Keep New Zealand Beautiful initiative, with Oliver's event being a great success!

Every year during the annual Clean Up Week, Kiwis come together, join forces and get out into their local community to pick up litter. Together, each and every year, we all make a huge difference.

In 2021, there were over 30,000 volunteers take part, collecting approximately 300 tonnes of litter across an area equivalent to 2,589 rugby fields!

Oliver said "the Clean Up day went well.  18 people came along to pick up rubbish and we picked up 10 large bags of rubbish." Ka pai Oliver!
