On Wednesday, eighteen students from Twizel Area School travelled to Oamaru to compete at the North Otago Rippa Rugby Competition. We had two teams entered, a Year 3-4 and a Year 5-6 who were competing against schools from all over the North Otago region. 🏉🥈

The Year 5-6 team managed to win 2 out of their 3 pool games. They had some exceptional try scorers and determined players on the defence. It was awesome to see these students really come together as a team despite being down two of their players. They demonstrated a high level of sportsmanship to the opposing teams.

The Year 3-4 team knocked out 3 wins out of the 3 pool games allowing them to move on to the Semi-Final. They then managed to have a very close but well deserved win which got them into the final playoff against Palmerston. It was an extremely tough game and the Twizel students did not go down without a fight. Unfortunately, they just missed out on 1st place but we were more than happy to take the silver!

A huge congratulations to the students, they represented Twizel fantastically and we definitely have some rugby stars in the making!
