The 2023 netball season got underway last week with all the Twizel teams performing well, with some excellent results.

The courts on Taward Street in Oamaru were illuminated on April 28th and 29th, signalling the start of the 2023 netball season. The Twizel teams made a strong impression, displaying their prowess in the game.

Currently, we have 63 students attending netball every week in Oamaru. We have two teams of Year 3-4, two teams of Year 5-6, two teams of Year 7-8, plus two senior teams competing in the tournament.

The year 3-4 teams do not keep score as the emphasis is on learning and enjoying the game. The students reported having a great time during the games and are excited for the upcoming games.

The Twizel Storm team had a fantastic win, while Twizel Lightning came very close to securing the win. Twizel Cyclones played their hearts out and came close to victory. Twizel Hurricanes had a huge win with a score of 42-13, which means they will advance to the top grade of the year 7-6 competition.

Both senior teams on Saturday had convincing wins, and we wish the participants in the SAS Tournament all the best.
