Term One news from the Junior School, including class changes, swimming and important dates to remember.

The holidays were jam-packed full of exciting changes. Miss Hooper is now the teacher of the Year 3-4 class, but still in Room 9.   Miss Smith has moved into Room 13, teaching the Year 2-3 class, and  Miss Wise has moved into Room 5 into the New Entrant space. Mr Byrne,  Mrs Reid and Miss Sargeant will continue in Room 7, Room 6 and Room 4. I wandered around the junior school this morning while everyone enjoyed their first morning in their classrooms. It was lovely to see all the excited faces.

In Term 1 we require students to be wearing a wide brimmed sun hat at appropriate times like playtimes, lunchtimes and when outside doing PE. Can you please ensure that your child has a named hat at school. As Term 1 is always very hot, please ensure your student has a named water bottle at school.   This will ensure your student stays hydrated.

Term 1 is always busy with things like swimming, Athletics, other sports and settling-in reports happening.  With swimming starting, students will need to bring their togs three days a week. We will begin swimming lessons from Monday, 10th February on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoon. Swimming Sports will be for Miss Sargeant’s class through to the Year 13 students and will be on Friday, 7th February, from 10:45 am.

Also, at the start of the year, it is really important that you name all of your uniform and items that you bring to school to avoid things ending up in the lost property.

Sometimes classes will share, and sometimes they won’t, depending on the work they have completed that week. Within the classes, some students will feel more comfortable sharing, and others will not want to share just yet.
