Student Leader Jack McLellan wraps up a busy few weeks with the SAS Tournament and Pink Shirt Day as the highlights. Kia ora whanau, it has been a busy week for Twizel Area School! Our students not only excelled at the recent SAS Tournament in Tuatapere, held in week 3, but also came together to celebrate Pink Shirt Day the same week. The SAS Tournament was a showcase of our students sporting ability, and TAS students truly rose to the occasion. Our talented athletes brought home wins in both the boys and girls Basketball, demonstrating their impressive teamwork and skills on the court. But it didn't stop there, we also had champions in Ki o rahi, a traditional Māori sport that requires agility and strategy. Our netball teams, both boys and girls, displayed their exceptional passing and shooting abilities, securing well-deserved wins. Individual triumphs were also celebrated in squash, where Bryn Smit dominated the competition.Back in Twizel that same week, we switched gears from competitive sports to a message of unity and kindness. Twizel Area School proudly participated in Pink Shirt Day, a national initiative against bullying. Students and staff wore pink clothing, a symbol of standing together for a positive and inclusive school environment. The day was filled with activities and discussions that promoted kindness and respect. It was a heartwarming display of our school community's commitment to creating a safe and supportive space for all.Week 3 was a testament to the well-rounded nature of Twizel Area School. Our students excel not only in athletics but also in fostering a culture of kindness and acceptance. Congratulations to all our athletes on their SAS Tournament victories, and a big thank you to everyone who participated in Pink Shirt Day! Let's carry this momentum forward and continue to make Twizel Area School a place where everyone feels valued and supported.A special shoutout to several of our outstanding athletes who were selected to compete at the National Area School Tournament in Te Awamutu during the July school holidays!
