Today was a little disruptive with the strike action being called off at quite a late notice; this meant that we only had a few students in M4 today. What a great chance to get some good teamwork happening!

Four young men were given the challenge of creating a world in Minecraft. We talked about what they were learning in other classes, and they said that they had just started studying a movie called “Blindside”. This gave them the idea of creating an American Football stadium. The students needed to do some quick research of what an NFL stadium looks like, the markings and the goal posts. The teamwork between these students was amazing as they worked to create their replica. As one student was working out the markings on the field (and realised that in America, the field is marked out in yards as opposed to metres in NZ), another student was researching the types of stalls that may be at an NFL game.

The boys only had two periods to create the world, and it is not quite finished, but in the video below Huxley explains why and how they created the world.

Well done to the students - great teamwork, and the world looks amazing. A great example of Minecraft in an educational setting.
