Twizel Area School swimming sports was held last Thursday, for the first time since 2021. Children who were able to swim a length from Year 5 and above participated. 🏊♀️ The Sun was shining and it was a great day for everyone involved. Swimmers were marshalled into age categories by Mr Frost. The races were started by Mr Van M, and a selection of staff members were in charge of timing. The highlight of the day was the relay where staff also entered a relay team! Ōhau took out the relay followed by Ruataniwha, then staff followed by Pukaki. I'm sure you could hear the cheering all over Twizel! 💚💛💙Students received a point for placings and just entering a race.Highest Scoring students were:Dom NewlandsNoah SheridanFelix JonesKobe NarruhnOrlando NarruhnWilliam NewlandsRalph HendersonDaniel ThompsonEfa WatkinsNina BrownBailey BacchusHazel MasonHazel HendersonSadie MasonSoffe Shaw House groups participated in challenges.Rope throw RuataniwhaPukakiŌhauKayak RelayPukakiŌhauRuataniwhaObject PickupPukakiRuataniwhaŌhauIt was so great to see our junior students working alongside our senior students.Total Points Ōhau 197Pukaki 139Ruataniwha 134Students are selected from these swimming sports to represent Twizel in the Upper Waitaki swimming sports Yr4-8 and Aoraki Swimming Year9-13.
