Four Middle School students participated in the Blue Light PCT Challenge in Timaru last week. The PCT is an event run with teams of students participating in a variety of mental and physical challenges.

Teams are required to participate in a series of challenges including the ‘police car push’ as well as complete the Police Competence Test (PCT) – the obstacle course used in the entry exams for new police recruits.

Daisy Morrow, along with William Newlands, Sukrit Timilsina and Emma Gardiner, competed on behalf of Twizel Area School. You can read Daisy's thoughts on the day here:

On the 14th of September, we travelled to Timaru to compete in the annual PCT (Physical Competence Test) Challenge, hosted by Bluelight. We had to push wheelie bins, run around the netball courts, over a balance beam, jump a 1.8 metre mat and over fences and walls.

Our team didn’t win but had a very fun day. The team placed around in the middle spot.

My favourite part was climbing through the window. As well as the competition, the event involved some other activities such as walking with vision impairment goggles on, trying on police uniforms and a test to see how many centimetres can you jump.
