Level 2 Home Economics ākonga are evaluating food sustainability and whether sourcing food locally is a sustainable practice. This week, learners went for a walk around the streets and greenways close to school to see what produce was available.

Ākonga checked out the produce growing in the community garden, a local address selling fresh produce & seeds, and free cooking apples from the local kindergarten. They also looked at the different fruits growing on the trees along the greenways on Glen Lyon Road. 

It was definitely a valuable walk around to see what produce can be sourced locally.
