Senior ākonga spent the day on a welding course at ARA Polytechnic in Timaru last Friday. Read what Sienna thought about her day.

Friday morning was an early start; we left Twizel by 7 am and got into Timaru just before 9 am. When we got there, John, our instructor, went through the Health and Safety requirements and showed us around.

The first thing we learned was good techniques with MIG welding. We had to step out of our comfort zone and demonstrate our work in front of everyone. He then let us go into our own space and practice what we learned.

Later on he taught us how to stick weld which was new and interesting. Overall it was a fun experience and I learned so much. I would love to do it again.
