After the extensive Community Consultation last year, the Board of Trustees has undertaken a comprehensive review of our uniform to create consistency across the school. 🏫 These changes are available to view in the school's main office; parents, caregivers, and whānau members are welcome to take a look for themselves.

In 2022, you’ll recall that we surveyed the school community regarding the TAS uniform in response to the Human Rights Commission's review of school uniforms.

The survey was available to all parents, teachers and students. It covered issues as diverse as inclusion, cost, style and comfort.

The Board took on the feedback from the survey. They formed a committee to make the necessary changes to our uniform to meet the needs of national uniform requirements, as well as community preferences.

Following the feedback, the committee investigated a wide range of issues, such as:

  • Addition of a school coat to complement our range of uniform items that can be worn inside the school building
  • Aligning the school colours
  • Ensuring the skirts and skorts on offer allowed the correct range of movement for wide participation in all school activities
  • Reducing the cost
  • Reducing the overall number of items available
  • Withdrawing the middle school uniform change for clarity and simplicity
  • Relaxation of some appearance guidelines

At the start of 2023, the appearance guidelines came into effect - they are available on the school website.

In the following months, the Board investigated and sourced samples of the new uniform. Provided by NZUniforms, we have these on display in the foyer now. Scan the QR code to provide your feedback before the Board makes the final uniform decisions!

The changes made are outlined below.  We have also attached a few photos of the revisions so that you can see this visually. However, some of these samples are not embroidered as yet.

Changes include:

  • We will get rid of the skorts and replace them with culottes.
  • Navy bottoms shorts/pants in the Junior School will be replaced by black to match the senior school.
  • Changing Junior School fleece from navy to black.
  • We have scrapped the grey shirts. Year 7-13 boys will now wear white shirts.
  • The maroon jersey will be replaced by the current black jersey for Year 7-13s.
  • Grey PE tops, to be replaced with house colours
  • Introducing a softshell jacket with embroidery.
  • Girls' blouses have changed style, still plain white.
