The Mackenzie District Council have a fantastic opportunity for senior students who are interested in applying for the Mackenzie County Scholarship & Bruce Scott Memorial Prize. The closing date has now been extended to 10th November.


Mackenzie County Scholarship

First-year tertiary education scholarships, for secondary school students living within the Mackenzie District.

Applications are invited from students currently:

  • Attending Mackenzie College, Fairlie
  • Attending Twizel Area School, Twizel
  • Residents of the Mackenzie District, or one of whose parents (or the student's principal guardian/caregiver) is a permanent resident of the Mackenzie District.

The Trust has Scholarships available for the first year tertiary education of post Year 12 NCEA Level 2 level.

  • Mackenzie District Council Offices, Fairlie and Twizel.

Bruce Scott Memorial Prize

Awarded to a secondary school student within the Mackenzie District who demonstrates good citizenship, practical skills and leadership potential.

The Mackenzie District Council recognises the contribution of the late Bruce Scott by way of an annual prize to be awarded to a senior secondary student, resident of the Mackenzie District, who best exhibits sustained effort and application in all that they do and who always demonstrates good citizenship, practical skills and leadership potential.

Bruce was brought up and farmed on Godley Peaks Station for many years and was a former Councillor, County Chairman and the inaugural Mayor of the Mackenzie District.

The prize is awarded to the senior secondary student of the Mackenzie District who best exhibits sustained effort and application in all that they do and who always demonstrates good citizenship, practical skills and leadership potential.

The prize which is awarded annually, will be presented at the final meeting of the Council on 14 December 2021, will consist of book vouchers up to the value of $250.

Applications close 5:00 pm on 10th November 2021.

Applications must be on the prescribed form and received no later than 5pm on Wednesday 27 October 2021. Applicants may be called for an interview.
