Term Two news from the Junior School, including a winter weather reminder, assembly dates, and a new appointment. Wow, Term One was full of exciting learning and events; Term Two will be much the same. We start the term with Netball Skills for our Year 1-8 students and also have a presentation from Bob Bickerton called Taonga Pūoro, which is about Māori Musical instruments. We also have our school production to begin to look forward to; these are always exciting events but can also bring with it the anxiety that comes with performing. As we start to get colder days, please ensure your child has the correct warmer uniform at school to keep them toasty warm. It is really important that you name all of your uniform items that you bring to school to avoid things ending up in the lost property. We have the joy of congratulating Melissa Neill on her pregnancy and can announce that we have appointed Tim Byrne in her Maternity Leave position beginning in September. This term, our overall integrated topic is the Matariki Market. This means our learning will revolve around financial literacy, technology, visual language, and much more. This learning will culminate in a Matariki Market Day around Matariki time. Our planning for this learning is beginning to come together and may look like this:Melissa McLellan,Assistant Principal and Head of the Junior SchoolImportant DatesWednesday, 8th May - Netball skills, Year 1-8 Friday, 10th May - Bob Bickerton, Taonga Pūoro Friday, 17th May - Pink Shirt DayJunior AssembliesJunior Assembly will start on Wednesday, 8th May. After a review of Junior Assemblies in our Junior Syndicate meeting, we are going to trial having our assemblies every fortnight. This is to ensure that we have enough to share at assemblies and give our presenting class the time to do it justice. This will be in the Theatre at the Events Centre at 2:30 pm. See below for the timetable for the term.
