Deputy Head Student, Alexandria Swain, rounds up the last few weeks, including the SAS Tournament in Owaka and Pink Shirt Day. She also looks forward to next week's Senior Formal. Kia Ora Students, Staff, and Whānau,I hope this message finds you well. It has been a busy and exciting time at school, with a number of opportunities and events for our students.Recently, our Year 13 students had the chance to attend the University of Otago Open Day in Dunedin. It was a valuable experience that allowed them to explore future academic pathways and gain insight into university life.We also had 30 students travel to the Catlins to participate in the Southern Area Schools Tournament. Our students competed with great spirit and determination across a range of sports, some aiming for selection in the National Area Schools South of the South team. We’re very proud of their efforts, and we’re looking forward to the National Tournament, which is just around the corner. A large number of our students will be attending, and we wish them the very best as they represent our school and region. A huge congratulations to all who participated, played, and earned a spot on the national team.In academic news, we were fortunate to welcome a visiting team from the University of Otago, who worked with our senior biology students. They led an engaging session and facilitated a practical laboratory experience, which was both inspiring and educational.Last Friday, we celebrated Pink Shirt Day as part of our ongoing commitment to promoting kindness, inclusivity, and standing up against bullying. It was heartening to see our school community come together to support this important cause. Finally, our senior school formal is right around the corner, and we look forward to celebrating this special evening with our senior students. It will be a memorable occasion to acknowledge their hard work and let off some steam. We’re excited to see everyone dressed up and enjoying a night of dancing and fun.Thank you to all the staff, students, and families who continue to contribute to the life and spirit of our school. Your support and participation are what make our community. Have a lovely long weekend to rest and spend time with family, friends and loved ones.Nga Mihi,Alexandria SwainDeputy Head
