Twizel Area School was proudly represented by 26 talented students at the Upper Waitaki Swimming competition held in Kurow. Competing against four other schools, our students showcased their incredible dedication, skill, and sportsmanship in a highly competitive event. The competition was a stepping stone for students aiming to qualify for the North Otago Swimming event. Swimmers raced against the clock for a chance to secure a coveted spot, and we are thrilled to announce that 17 of our students have successfully qualified! They will now travel to Oamaru to compete at the Waitaki Aquatic Centre on March 19th.Twizel swimmers performed exceptionally well, with almost all participants making it to the finals. Even more impressively, in each age group that Twizel entered, we secured a top-three placing—a remarkable achievement that reflects the hard work and commitment of our young athletes. This success would not have been possible without the support of our dedicated teachers and parents, who have played a crucial role in the School Swim Programme and Early Morning Squad. Their guidance and encouragement were evident in the outstanding performances seen at Upper Waitaki. As our 17 athletes prepare for the next stage of competition, we extend our best wishes to them. Good luck to our swimmers heading to Oamaru—we are all cheering for you!An Acknowledgement and Certificates will be awarded at a later stage.
