Head and Deputy Students, Billy and Fred, have updates from Bully-Free Week and last week's Area School Tournament, plus a reminder about the Senior Formal.

Kia ora,

We hope everyone is having a great bully-free week so far, treating everyone with respect and kindness. Bully-Free week is going smoothly, we’ve been delighted to see the students participating in the ‘Kindness Bingo’, it’s been a great boon to the development of WAKA values within the school. Of course, Bully-Free Week ends with Pink Shirt Day on Friday, so make sure to wear as much pink as possible to present your support for a bully-free environment at school.

It also happens to be Road Safety Week this week, so remember to drive safely. Oh, and also teach the importance of driving safely to all the young drivers in our community. On Wednesday the Yr 11’s went to a Pathways Expo in Timaru, learning about all the wonderful ways their lives could go. We hope It inspired them to truly believe in their potential as young learners and future workers.

We also had our school team return from the Southern Area Schools tournament last week, coming back with plenty of wins under their belt. They fought strong and, as a school collective, we are very proud of them. They did win the overall tournament, scoring first place in a multitude of sports. These being, both boys and girls basketball, football, rippa rugby, e-sports, chess, and squash. On top of this, congratulations to Finn and Sadie who won fair play awards. This isn’t even mentioning the bunch of students who qualified for the National Area School team, it’s safe to say that Twizel is a team of winners!

A reminder about the Senior Formal next week, tickets are available at the school office and are $50. That’s all for this now, make sure to keep the spirit of Bully-Free Week alive for many weeks more.
