Last week, our school community came together to warmly welcome our newest students and staff members with a Mihi Whakatau. This special ceremony provided an opportunity to embrace our fourteen new enrolments and two new staff members, helping them feel at home in our kura.

Our Year 7 and 8 classes, M1 and M2, are buzzing with excitement as they embark on a special conservation and technology project—building bumblebee houses! This hands-on initiative is designed to support local bumblebee populations while integrating important lessons about biodiversity, sustainability, and design thinking.

Last week, the TAS Swimming Sports event proved to be an incredible day filled with enthusiasm, determination, and community spirit. It was fantastic to see everyone giving it a go, whether they were competing for top honours or simply floating down the pool with a smile on their face.

What a great way to kick off the year! Students came together for an action-packed Student Leadership and Peer Mediation Day, setting the stage for what we hope will be a great year ahead.

Last week, we celebrated our Year 6 students as they prepare to transition to Intermediate. It was a fantastic event, filled with memories and stories that highlighted how far they’ve come on their educational journey.

TAS Jump Jam took place on November 29th and what a hit it was! It was super impressive to see so many of our tamariki get up and give this a try, especially in front of the large crowd.

On Monday, 2nd December, the Twizel town square buzzed with excitement as the Twizel Area School Options Class hosted their Market Day. The event was not only a fun-filled day for the community but also an incredible learning opportunity for the students.

Last week, the Junior School opened its classrooms to the community to showcase a term of exciting learning. This term, students explored aspects of New Zealand history, including local events and significant national disasters.
