The rowing season continued last weekend with the South Island Secondary Schools (SISS) Regatta and as has been the case all season long, the Twizel crews did not disappoint. With thanks to community members and organisations, they are now planning their trip to the Maadi Cup at Lake Karāpiro.

It was a highly competitive field at the SISS regatta, coupled with periods of wind that made the rowers' job even harder.

Twizel came out with two gold medals:

  • Boys u18 Novice Double Sculls | Kobe Narruhn & Ralph Henderson
  • Girls u18 Novice Double Sculls | Kiara Thyne & Sadie Mason

Then an emotionally charged race saw the girls' quad take silver:

  • Girls u18 Novice Coxed Quad Sculls | Kiara Thyne, Sadie Mason, Hazel Henderson, Lucia Yates, and Poppy Staniford (Cox)

Coaches Kelvin Maker and Sarah Henderson are now preparing the team to make the journey to Lake Karāpiro for this year's Maadi Cup. We would like to thank every community member, business, and organisation who have come together to make this happen! 🤗

The Rowing Team are still actively fundraising and seeking donations, so if there are any businesses out there who would love to support the squad on this exciting journey please contact either Sarah Henderson or Chelsea Lousley at school.
