Waka Leader Ariki Purton looks forward to another busy term of House Competitions, and looks back on last term's achievements.

How's it going, everyone?

I hope you're all doing well as we start off Week 1 of Term 3 here at Twizel Area School. Isnt it good being out of the fog? Time seems to be flying by, doesn't it? It feels like just yesterday when  I started out in Year 7, thinking I had all the time in the world ahead of me here at TAS. Now, with only 12 weeks left before I transition from this familiar place to new adventures, I find myself reflecting on the journey and looking forward to what lies ahead.

Firstly, a MASSIVE congratulations to PUKAKI House for their outstanding achievement in earning the "Twizel House Shield for Term 2" with an impressive total of 2847 points. Close behind were Ruataniwha with 2482 points and Ohau with 2384 points.

Last term, we had the pleasure of having the 2024 Twizel School Production of Seussical Jr. It was a fabulous experience, and I want to extend my sincere thanks to you the community for filling the auditorium each night. Your enthusiasm and presence made the evenings truly special, and seeing known faces in the audience was a highlight and of course so the show was the best because they had the best elephant in the whole entire world!

Looking ahead to this term, it's clear that our seniors are facing an academically demanding period with the focus on achieving their NCEA credits in just 12 weeks. Additionally, I'm excited to share that plans are in motion for the 2024 TAS Formal. Details regarding the theme and other exciting aspects of the event will be revealed in the coming weeks.

During the recent school holidays, a group of our students represented Twizel Area School admirably in Te Awamutu, showcasing their talents and dedication. They undoubtedly made us proud, embodying the spirit of our school community and making sure the school name was heard far and wide.

As we start this term, we're gearing up for three House competitions that will determine the last receiving house of the Twizel House Shield for 2024. These events are not only there to create a Natural rivalry but also to bring back the House Spirit and Rivalry that after talking to ex-students from the early 2000s all remember strongly and still feel that they still belong to their original House.

I warmly welcome everyone back for another term. I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break, and I look forward to seeing everyone thrive and excel in the weeks ahead.

Please Stay Safe.
