TAS students competed in the Aoraki Ski Champs last week. However, the competition was cut short due to the high winds!

M1 students have been busy learning and writing, about poems inspired by Siksika Chief and diplomat Chief Crowfoot.

Over the last two weeks, Room 5 and 6 tamariki have been busy connecting with our community.

Students at TAS are always busy with out-of-school activities. Take a look at a few events from the past week, including netball, highland dancing and football.

On Tuesday, students from Rooms 5 and 7 headed off to Tekapo to take part in Ice Skating for the day. It was such an awesome trip, with all students participating well. ⛸️

Well, what a success our Junior Market Day was! We were so proud to see all the hard work that went into the products, stalls, and advertising.

The weather was stunning for the annual Twizel Area School Cross Country, an opportunity for the whole school to come together and support each other!

In term 2, M2 were learning about turangawaewae - our place. Each student chose a project they felt was important, and then worked together to bring these to life!

During the first week of term, M3 students had a day off-site to build the mana of their class. They focused on teamwork and communication, completing challenges together.

Room 5 students have been thoroughly immersed in their Olympic-themed topic this term. Last week, they had the unique opportunity to interview Jorja Miller, a member of the NZ Women’s Rugby Sevens team.

On Thursday, August 1st, Connor, William, Kanoa, Noah, and Keira (from year nine) participated in the first round of the 2024 Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee. 🐝

On Sunday, 28th July the Twizel Hurricanes headed to Timaru for the annual Jellybean netball tournament kitted out as M&Ms. 🏐

The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the successful results of the recent parent election and warmly welcomes Anna and Simon to the Board.

At the end of Term 2, we were lucky enough to have a group of tertiary health students visit the school and inform our interested seniors about careers in health care.

The Room 5 and 6 tamariki had an exciting journey to Tekapo to end term 2, where they visited the Dark Sky Centre. This visit provided a great opportunity for the students to deepen their understanding and learning about Space, Stars and Matariki (their topic for the term)!

What an amazing and successful time we had at NZ Area Schools Nationals. The students all worked super hard in their selected sports and represented our school with absolute pride.

During the school holidays, three TAS students participated in the challenging Mackenzie Half Marathon, with some amazing results!
