It was a picture-perfect day for the Twizel Area School Athletics Day last Thursday and we saw some great performances and even better sportsmanship from everyone involved!

It's great to see so many caregivers using the SchoolBridge App, it certainly allows us to share information and get things done with a lot less time and effort. We do have a reminder about when you are submitting your absence reports...

Our Senior Science classes had an great week with new teacher Mrs Dixon, with Year 11 learning about microorganisms in food production, and Year 12 investigating the inner workings of sheep hearts .

Last week, M1 students enjoyed their camp, with some modifications due to the weather.

Seven of our students were selected to represent Twizel Rowing Club at the NZ National Rowing Championships to be held at Cambridge, Lake Karāpiro, after epic performances at the South Island regatta, where they won three golds, a silver and three bronzes.

This term, M2 are learning about animal welfare. On Tuesday morning, we were lucky enough to have Cody and Adrianne from the Department of Conservation visit with their conservation dogs. 🐶

M3 have started their food journey this year with basic cooking skills - this week's lesson was around cooking pasta correctly. 🍝

This week, students from Room 4 had the opportunity to visit Mrs. O'Carroll in the Digi Tech Room, where they gained insights into the principles of good digital citizenship.

Room 9 students took advantage of the warm sunshine this week by continuing the tradition of painting their desks to start the year! 🎨🧑🏻‍🎨

This week the middle school classes have been having a competition! The goal was to create a balloon-powered car with household objects that travelled in a straight-ish line and to see how far they could go. 🎈

Last week we were lucky enough to have Marianne from Doc visit the school, and she brought some friends with her! 🪳

Congratulations to Luka Mains-Upson who has broken the NZ record for a 30-minute erg for men aged 15-16, beating the previous record by 44 metres! 🚣

Twizel Area School swimming sports was held last Thursday with students from Year 4 and above participating. 🏊‍♀️ The sun was shining and it was a great day for everyone involved.

Community and School whānau welcomed our new students and staff members with a Mihi Whakatau on Wednesday morning.

Senior and Middle School students took part in Leadership and Peer Support Days to start 2024. Senior students planned games and activities for the the first House Competition of the year!
