Twizel Area School had some slippery visitors this week when Wes, Brooklyn, and Kieran from Meridian Energy's Trap and Transfer Programme bought some NZ Long Finn Eels to show and talk about.

This week we have been rather busy with slimy creatures coming to visit us! We were super lucky to have Meridian Energy organise Wes, Brooklyn and Kieran to come in and not only show us the traps they use to catch the eels but also three big eels. The children loved touching and learning about the eels.

Room 9 ākonga are so thankful for Mel organising this awesome opportunity with Wes, Brooklyn and Kieran. Thank you! Room 9 also had Elizabeth bring in some of her tadpoles that have been living in her pool that Room 9 were lucky enough to spend the day with.

Room 8 students learned about the value of Kaitiakitaka (Guardianship) and the importance of looking after our environment, one student commenting that "they stink '' and feel "slimy"!
