Six talented athletes from Twizel Area School represented their school with pride and determination at the Aoraki Athletics event held in Timaru. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, with the first three hours of competition taking place in drizzle, the students delivered outstanding performances throughout the day. The morning rotations saw the Twizel athletes push through the wet conditions and still perform at their best. Among the standout performances, Jaxon Shaw excelled in multiple events, securing 1st place in High Jump, 1st place in the 100m Sprint, and 2nd place in Triple Jump. Dejay Parata showcased his endurance and speed, finishing 2nd in the 400m, while Sukrit demonstrated his athleticism by earning a 3rd equal placing in High Jump.Aoraki Athletics is a highly competitive event that brings together students from country schools as well as larger high schools from Timaru and Oamaru. Despite the strong competition, Twizel Area School athletes held their own and showcased their talent, commitment, and sportsmanship.Congratulations to all the students who participated and represented Twizel Area School so well.
