Our Year 10 students were lucky enough to have the opportunity to spend a day with Meridian at the Ōhau A Power Station to get a taste of what career options are available in the Energy sector. ⚡️ The day started at the Meridian town offices where Jade Lloyd talked the students through how the energy industry in the Mackenzie Basin works and gave them a glimpse into the possible careers that Meridian can support them into. From there we moved to Ohau A Power station where we were given a tour around the facility and spent the next few hours doing hands-on activities such as running wires and wiring up a plug. Stripping and rebuilding a motor, soldering a circuit board and using a drill press. Time between was spent trying to see who could master the ‘shaky hand’ game. Well done to Hazel and her steady hand.A big thank you to Lee, Jade and Ang for facilitating this amazing day for our Year 10’s who are very lucky to have this amazing resource in their backyard.
