The day started at the Meridian town offices where Jade Lloyd talked the students through how the energy industry in the Mackenzie Basin works and gave them a glimpse into the possible careers that Meridian can support them into.

From there we moved to Ohau A Power station where we were given a tour around the facility and spent the next few hours doing hands-on activities such as running wires and wiring up a plug. Stripping and rebuilding a motor, soldering a circuit board and using a drill press. Time between was spent trying to see who could master the ‘shaky hand’ game. Well done to Hazel and her steady hand.
