Our rowers have all been showing their school values this week while competing in the Maadi Regatta at Lake Karāpiro. From dealing with broken oars to supporting their teammates, and mingling with Olympians!🚣‍♀️ 👏🏅

The week started with the Heats and, once again, Twizel crews have made everyone sit up and take note by qualifying for the final stages of the regatta. It wasn't all plain sailing (or rowing) though with the Under 18 Novice Coxed Quad Sculls team breaking an oar in the first 100m of their race! Luckily the rules state that the race can be stopped and restarted with a new one. The new oar certainly paid dividends as they won their heat and progressed to the final by just 0.14sec!

The excitement wasn't just confined to the lake for our rowers. They were invited to meet The NZ Team Olympic medalists Lucy Spoors and Eric Murray, thank you to the Oamaru Rowing Club for inviting our rowers. Eric and Lucy had some great advice for the rowers, telling them not to look too far ahead, and to conquer one race at a time!

Good luck to everyone in the finals, lets hope for some great results!
