Following the government's announcement that the 7-day isolation period is no longer mandated, schools ask for a common sense approach to covid from whānau. The Ministry of Health's general recommendations are a minimum of 5 days of recovery following your positive test to promote long-term health and recovery. We'd like to maintain our lower levels of covid so that the school remains operational for everyone.What we can do:Have only healthy staff at schoolEncourage hygiene practicesVentilate our spacesProvide RAT tests if required (limited stock) - for Year 1-6 students this is for home testing by a parent, for Year 7-13 students this is by optional self-test at schoolIsolate unwell students for parent collectionWhat you can do:Monitor for symptoms (even if mild) and test if necessaryStay at home if sick or until your symptoms are as follows:no fevers (without fever-reducing medication such as paracetamol)minimal cough/sneezeminimal runny nose (i.e. does not require removal of mask or respirator to wipe)feeling well enough to return to school.Keep the school informed
