Congratulations goes to Twizel Area School kaiako Sandy Nelson for making the shortlist for the New Zealand Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi o Aotearoa (NZSA) Heritage Book Awards 2022 with her short prose, Mum’s Mistake. ✍️📚

The NZSA Heritage Book Awards are national and annual and, as they have grown in popularity, now administered by the National Office of NZSA. The awards are open to entry by NZ citizens and permanent residents of New Zealand with categories such as non-fiction, Te Reo Māori (both bilingual and Te Reo only), and poetry.

The theme for 2022 was Our Stories – Milestones and Moments.

Heritage Book Awards judge Carl Nixon commended Sandy's work and said: "A fictionalised episode that displays very fine control of dialogue".

Congratulations Sandy, everyone here at Twizel Area School is super proud of you.
