Over the past term, M3 students have participated in a Market Day Project as part of their Year 9 Social Sciences course. This learning enables students to work in small groups to plan and run a short-term business enterprise. 🛒

Last Saturday, September 16th, Mason Crawford and Charlie McLellan headed to Herbert Forest for an adrenaline filled day at the Aoraki Mountain Biking.

Last Friday, September 15th, the Senior and Junior Snow clubs came together to compete in the Ōhau Ski Races. It was a great way to end the season!

The upcoming Color Run promises to be a vibrant and exhilarating event. Participants are eagerly gearing to embark on a journey filled with bursts of colourful powder.

We were again fortunate to have the Inzone Careers Coach visit our school this week, with Middle School students taking the opportunity to search for prospective future career paths.

As part of Te Wiki o te reo Māori, the school community came together on Thursday night for our Kemu ki te pō / Games night. It was great to see everyone learning together!

Awesome news this week that Monique received the Canterbury Girl Boss Award for Enterprise, acknowledging young women in New Zealand who are defying stereotypes and creating change in their communities. 🏆 The organisation acknowledges inspiring young leaders, facilitators, role models and innovators.

A dedicated group of Enviro Club members took a trip to Shaws Hardware this week, to carefully assess the equipment and tools required for our upcoming term.

This week marked an exciting rematch between Room 5 and M2 students in their termly Bench Ball Challenge! 🏐

The students in Room 4 have been fully immersed in the enchanting world of "The Carnival of the Animals," a musical masterpiece composed by Camille Saint-Saëns, who once resided in the vibrant city of Paris (coincidentally, the current host of the Rugby World Cup!). This musical journey has been a delightful experience for them.

After the extensive Community Consultation last year, the Board of Trustees has undertaken a comprehensive review of our uniform to create consistency across the school. 🏫 These changes are available to view in the school's main office; parents, caregivers, and whānau members are welcome to take a look for themselves.

This month, we have been taking part in Breathe Better September, to raise awareness for the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ.

As part of Te wiki o te reo Māori, our Kapa Haka group has visited the Market Place each lunchtime this week and performed a range of waiata, including Tū Tonu Rā - our school waiata, as well as a range of other popular waiata that we have been learning.

As we start Term 4, we have some exciting sports and outdoor events to look forward to. 🏃🏼‍♂️🏅🏔️

Room 5 enjoyed their day, skiing at Ōhau this week. They were fortunate enough to get above the inversion layer, to have a great day. Every student tried something new, and by the end of the day, everyone was able to ski down the Magic Carpet.

Head Student Billy looks forward to Te wiki o te Māori and the Junior Ski Trips, with the end-of-term getting ever closer.

M2 students have recently been learning about Geometry and Symmetry. Their task involved a creative and hands-on activity, creating their own unique pictures by employing various forms of symmetry, specifically mirror symmetry, slide symmetry, and rotational symmetry.

With thanks to Mainland Vector, a group of students were recently given the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a chainsaw operator, in collaboration with the Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs.

Last Thursday, 21 keen skiers from TAS went to Roundhill to race against students from all the other Te Manahuna Primary Schools in the Mackenzie Schools Ski Race Day. ⛷️
