Three actors from 'The Ugly Shakespeare Company' performed for the students from Year Five to Thirteen on Wednesday, March 15th. Their play, 'The Dream', was an interpretation of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', with the three actors playing a combination of 15 roles in the 50 minute performance. 🎭

This made for a chaotic, high energy performance that the students really enjoyed, particularly those in the junior school who hadn't heard much of Shakespeare before seeing this performance, and many hadn't been to a live theatre performance before. There was plenty of audience interaction, and Year 12 student Ariki Curtis was used as an extra cast member, which he absolutely excelled at.

After the show, one of the performers then spent an hour working with the Senior Drama students. This workshop was a great chance for the students to get an outside eye giving tips and tricks to help develop their current assessment pieces - which happened to be from Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. The students really valued the feedback and extra things they could focus on or consider adding to their performance.
