Footballers from Twizel Area School, Arowhenua Māori School, and West End AFC played in the world's most beautiful game of football. ⚽️ 🏔️

As part of the build-up to next month's FIFA Women's World Cup, held jointly by NZ and Australia, students from Twizel Area School joined Arowhenua Māori School and Timaru's West End AFC to play a game of football on a specially-constructed football pitch against the backdrop of Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park.

The 22 players involved were also taken through drills by Football Ferns Katie Bowen and Emma Rolston.

Twizel's very own Immy Ivey was amazed she was able to play beneath Aoraki/Mount Cook:

“It’s cool playing football in the mountains because when you score a goal, instead of just having plain grass, you can see the big mountains instead which is nice for a change,”
