At 8.35 am on Friday, 17th November, there was a high level of excitement as the Year 6 students prepared for a day of experiencing the Middle School at Twizel Area School.

On Tuesday, eight ākonga from Years 8-10 attended the Aoraki Touch Tournament held in Timaru. We played in the mixed team category, where we were up against teams from South and Mid Canterbury. 🏉 🏟️

We are seeking a Caretaker and a Cleaner to join our team at Twizel Area School.

On Wednesday 22nd November, there will be no classes due to a Ministry of Education Accord Teacher Only Day.

This week Year 1 to 8 ākonga took part in the ASB St John in Schools program, where they learned how to respond in an emergency. 🏥

Congratulations to all the students who have qualified for North Otago Primary School Athletics to be held on Monday 20th November in Oamaru.

Students in Rooms 9 and 13 welcomed Cody Thyne and Kip from DoC last week to learn about Dog Safety and Wildlife Protection.🐕

On Friday, our Year 1-3 students went down the valley to Upper Waitaki School to participate in an awesome athletic skills day. Students got to participate in a range of activities...I have heard the obstacle course was a favourite!

Last Wednesday, we held an adapted version of Upper Waitaki Athletics after the weather prevented the event from happening the week before. It was great to see all our TAS students trying their hardest. 👍

Students in Rooms 9 and 13 have been immersing themselves in the fascinating world of New Zealand's native bird species and their survival challenges. 🦅 Some of these remarkable birds are on the brink of endangerment.

After 30 years, this week we say goodbye to one of our longest serving teachers, Denise Arkless. Thank you, Denise, for your years of service and inspiration!

With the unexpected cold snap on Friday, we had to reschedule and create an adapted Athletics for Year 4-8 students.

Room 8 students visited the Twizel Fire Station last week as a "thank you" for the cards they wrote after the recent fire at Pukaki. This was instigated by Cruz, who thought we needed to thank them for all the work they had done. 🙏

This Monday was Dress-Up Day at Twizel Area School today, with ghosts, ghouls, superheroes, and even a dinosaur roaming the hallways! 🦖 👻

Ralph Henderson, Dave White, and Orlando Narruhn helped Mackenzie College to second place in the South Island Secondary School Championships for Boys Under-16 Rugby 7s, this weekend in Fairlie!

Last week, our M1 Year 7 class had an adventure-filled week; read some of their writing and reflections on their week around Temple Valley and Aoraki Mount Cook.
