Room 8 ākonga have been looking at measurement and using a variety of things to measure the inside of a pretend chilly bin. The students had to work out how many would fit into each box and explain their working out.

The students were using rows, counting, doubling, and counting in 3s and 5s to work out the answers. There was also some great mathematical discussion about how the shape of an object can affect how many objects can fit into a square box. When you have a circle shape you end up with more empty space and can not pack as much into a container.

Great mahi Room 8!
