Twizel Area School has yet another reason to be proud as Jaxon Shaw prepares to represent both the school and the Aoraki region at the prestigious South Island Secondary Schools Athletics Competition in Nelson from April 4-6.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to Jaxon’s hard work, talent, and dedication to athletics.

Jaxon’s journey to this elite competition has been nothing short of impressive. At the Country High Schools Athletics event, he showcased his incredible abilities by winning the 100m sprint, high jump, and triple jump. Notably, he achieved a personal best in the high jump, clearing an outstanding 1.65m—an exceptional result for his age. His dedication and determination continued to shine through as he advanced to the Aoraki Regional Athletics, representing Twizel alongside five other talented students. Despite challenging weather conditions, Jaxon dominated the competition, securing first place in the high jump and 100m sprint, while earning a well-fought second place in the triple jump.

Jaxon’s success is not only a reflection of his personal commitment but also of the unwavering support from his family, who will be accompanying him to Nelson. Their encouragement has played a vital role in his journey, and the Twizel community stands behind him with immense pride.

As Jaxon prepares for this prestigious event, he will be receiving expert coaching from Bevan Newlands, further honing his skills and ensuring he is in top form for the competition. With his incredible track record and relentless drive, there is no doubt that Jaxon will do Twizel exceptionally proud.

The entire community celebrates this achievement and eagerly awaits to see Jaxon take on the best athletes from across the South Island. We wish him the very best as he competes in Nelson—go well, Jaxon!
