Ms Saunders

Ms Saunders came down to Twizel Area School from a Catholic Cathedral College in Christchurch, she is looking forward to being part of our wonderful school, getting to know everyone and the new school build and being able to work in it. Ms Saunders specialises in Drama and Music so she is the one to go to with all your theatrical ideas. She has been coming down to Twizel for holidays for around 18 years so is familiar with our lovely town.

Miss Hooper

Miss Hooper graduated from University after studying for three years and taught in an early childhood centre for five years. Miss Hooper enjoys our beautiful scenery and our wonderful community and the support that is behind it, she is looking forward to getting to know the students and working with her students to do some swimming in the community's lovely pool this year.

Mr Purton

Mr Purton originally came from Twizel and as it happens also went to Twizel Area school where he fell in love with History, English, and Social Studies and wanted to share his passion with students who might be struggling with these subjects like he used to when he was at school and wants to teach his knowledge to them that helped him overcome those struggles as well. Mr Purton is looking forward to the upcoming year and is going in with a positive attitude and mindset.

Ms Wise

Ms Wise is the new teacher in room 13, she comes from Christchurch and this is her first year of teaching. Her initial thoughts this year have been really good and she thinks her class is good so far. She likes the small school setting and thinks it synergizes well with the small community, creating an environment where she can interact with her students in a meaningful way and keep up with their progress. As this is her first year teaching, she is nervous about the following year, but she remains optimistic. She thinks that the current school goals and direction is good and wishes to reflect these onto her students, hoping that on top of all the academic stuff, they learn to be kind and respectful of others.

Ms Sargeant

Ms Sargeant is the new teacher in Room 5, She used to do quite a lot of relieving around our school beforehand. Ms Sargeant loves to make a difference for the everyday people she interacts with and teaching is her way of doing that, teaching is all she ever wanted to do and she wants to teach people that they can be whatever they want to be. She is really excited about the upcoming year and is looking forward to teaching all of her students.
