Twizel rowers were entered into 6 events at the Maadi Cup, qualifying for A Finals in every single one...an outstanding effort in itself!

The Finals were highly tense and emotional affairs with all our crews racing great times. After 17 long years without success at Maadi, the time had finally come for the green & black rowsuits of Twizel to stand atop of the podium with the eyes of the rowing world upon them! 

Congratulations to Ralph Henderson and Kobe Narruhn for taking out bronze in the Boys U18 Novice Double Sculls with a time of 7:18:24. Later in the day on Friday, the baton was passed to Kiara Thyne and Sadie Mason, rowing in the Girls U18 Novice Double Sculls they took out the gold medal with a time of 7:53.25, winning by more than 5 seconds!

Overall, Twizel had a first, a third, a fourth, a sixth, and 2 sevenths. An astonishing record, especially given the fact that none of our rowers had stepped into a boat six months ago! Every single one of them can hold their head high. You have taken us on a journey that nobody will ever forget, you have inspired your peers and let them know that anything is possible if you put the hard graft in!

Thank you to everyone who made their Maadi Cup trip possible, from staff members and parents who attended, to the wonderful effort by community members, businesses, and organisations who rallied around to give our students the experience of a lifetime! 🙏 A special mention must also go to two special people...Kelvin Maker and Sarah Henderson...without your expertise, without your passion, and without your grit and determination, none of this would have been possible!
