As part of her Gateway Programme, Year 11 student Sadie has been teaching the Junior classes some physical skills every Wednesday morning, providing an opportunity for the younger students to learn new skills.

Sadie focused on physical skills related to warming up and cooling down the body. Specifically, the focus was on the legs, and Sadie guided the students through a series of movements to get their legs moving and ready for action.

The activities included:

  1. Running: The students likely engaged in a light jog or running exercises to gradually increase their heart rate and warm up their leg muscles.
  2. Hopping: Hopping movements help activate leg muscles and improve coordination while also contributing to the warm-up process.
  3. Stopping: Practicing sudden stops and changes in direction helps improve balance and control, important aspects of physical activities that involve leg movements.
  4. Jumping: Jumping exercises, such as jumping jacks or vertical jumps, help engage leg muscles and elevate the heart rate further, enhancing the warm-up process.
  5. Weaving Between Cones: This activity likely involved navigating through a set of cones, which helps improve agility, spatial awareness, and leg coordination.

Sadie gave the students a great way to warm up and prepare their legs for physical activity. They not only learned the importance of these warm-up techniques but also experienced them firsthand.
