Head Student Louie Skinner has some updates from around the school to share, including Area Schools Tournament and Pink Shirt Day.

Kia ora and welcome back everyone to week one term two! I hope everyone had a relaxing or exciting holiday.

During the holiday break, three students along with many others from Area Schools all over Aotearoa travelled up to Wainui for their leadership camp. The camp was a week-long and consisted of many exciting and fun activities they all partook in. It is a really great experience to go up and meet new people and learn about becoming future leaders in schools.

The school term has started back with a bang as preparations are being made to host this year's Southern Area Schools tournament here in Twizel during week 3. A huge thanks to all who are putting in many hours and lots of work so we can host this event. To the students who are practising hard, keep up the strong effort! Good luck to those basketball players who are playing their first game in the local competition this week.

On another important note, Monday 16th May(Week 3) is going to be Pink Shirt Day. The Pink Shirt Day is about standing together to stop bullying and is a non-uniform day where you wear pink to support this cause.

Pink Shirt Day 2022

Instead of bringing a gold coin donation this year, we are asking people to bring in non-perishable food items (canned food) to donate to our local food bank to help those in our local area who need it.

To all who are sick or isolating at home, take care and we wish you well.

Cheers,
Louie Skinner | Head Student
