Twizel Area School P.E. teacher Mark Frost has some information and reminders about Snow Club.

SNOW CLUB

The Snow Club Newsletter is clear about who the days are for.

Snow Club is part of Twizel Area School’s uniqueness.

The Club was formed many years ago to enable access to snow activities to students at our school. The staff and parents in the committee have raised money to promote snow activities for our tamariki over many years. This has resulted in numerous students reaching national and regional representation in snow sports. It has also led to a number of students choosing career paths around instructing, ski patrol and the snow sport industry in general.

Some staff are still actively involved in Snow Sports NZ at a national level.

The relationship between the school is crucial in the continued success of the club. This has always been in discussion with Ōhau Skifield.

The school needs staff to run the days with parent support. The days are meant to be about developing our tamariki’s skills in snow sports.

In addition, the school will try and offer class days to Ōhau – usually Year 4 and above. This enables beginners / never-evers to experience skiing/boarding.

Our Year 2/3 students will most likely go to the Roundhill Ski Area.
