Twizel Area School had the opportunity to welcome NZ's top Rowers to Te Manahuna for the annual Maadi Cup regatta. Our rowers and Kapa Haka crew led the parade along with the Mayor and walked from the Musterers hut down Ruataniwha Road to Mackenzie Drive and onto our School field with rousing chants and school songs.

It was fantastic to see our community turn out in support of our rowers. Once at the school field, our Kapa Haka took over, and KaratÄ« Metcalfe opened the Maadi cup with a Karakia and a chat about the purakau of Ruataniwha.  The Kapa Haka crew performed two waiata and a powerful Haka to thousands of rowers and supporters.

The banner competition was judged, and the crowd dispersed into the wilderness of Twizel to continue their competition on the water.
