Congratulations to our young actors, who participated successfully in the Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival held at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington over Queen's Birthday weekend.

Competing at the festival for the eighth time in the last decade, in front of an audience of around 2000, Twizel Area School students performed an excerpt from The Tempest and won three awards. Charlize Vitero was awarded a KAM Actors’ Talent Contract donated by SGCNZ alumnus Teone Kahu, while Blossom-Kate Garbutt was the recipient of one of three Assessors’ Awards as well as collecting the Speak the Speech Award.

As well as performing and being part of the audience, students attended workshops held by drama professionals. There is no overall winner of the national festival, but awards are given out for ability, skills and excellence.
