Over the first few weeks of the year Room 8 ākonga have been super busy, and have even taken inspiration from Wongi Wilson, who is creating the latest Twizel mural at the Community Swimming Pool!

Some of the class activities over the first few weeks of the year have been:

  • Visiting the library and learning how this system works getting books at
  • Where we go to the office if we need anything
  • How we greet Chelsea and our office staff
  • Learning to log in and out of our iPads independently
  • Demonstrating our school WAKA Values
  • Logging into EPIC reading with a buddy
  • Practising our number knowledge by writing our 1-20 on the carpet with chalk
  • Working on our WHOLE CLASS MURAL after visiting the  Te Ruataniwha one in progress outside the Swimming Pool with Rm 9. We were able to ask some questions of the artist Wongi Wilson and how this connects to where we live.
  • We are also having two senior students coming to read to the class on a Friday during DEAR  time. It is a lovely opportunity for our students to make connections with other students around the school.

What an awesome start to the term and a very busy tooth fairy at the moment in our class!
