We caught up with the Senior English class this week to see what the students are working on. 📑✏

M4 and M3 students have been learning about genetics, and creating DNA code sequences using pipe cleaners. 🧬

Creativity was flowing this week, with ākonga taking part in 'Decorate your own Cupcake' on Monday Lunchtime.🧁

Congratulations goes out to Billy Garbutt for successfully applying and gaining an On-Campus Experience (OCE) scholarship for Year 13 secondary students of Māori descent to experience learning at the University of Otago. 🎓

The 2023 netball season got underway last week with all the Twizel teams performing well, with some excellent results.

Ākonga in Room 8 have had a busy start to the term that has included finishing their coding work, welcoming a new class member and learning about the ANZACs! 🤖 🤗 🇳🇿

Practices have begun this week, looking forward to the Southern Area Schools Tournament held this year at Lawrence Area School in Week 3.

Kicking off the term, we were fortunate enough to work collaboratively with the YMCA (Timaru) and the in-school Wellbeing Professional Learning Group to present a full-day teamwork and wellbeing day for our Middle School Students (Y7-10).

Just a reminder that Tuesday, 25th April is Anzac Day, meaning that school will be closed. Classes will resume as normal on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, eighteen students from Twizel Area School travelled to Oamaru to compete at the North Otago Rippa Rugby Competition. We had two teams entered, a Year 3-4 and a Year 5-6 who were competing against schools from all over the North Otago region. 🏉🥈

Year 3 student Keziah was the centre of attention this weekend at the Southern Steel's game in Dunedin against the Mystics when she delivered the game ball. 🏐

On Tuesday April 4th, the Year 11 and 12 Drama students participated in the Aoraki SGCNZ Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival, in Geraldine. The two groups each performed scenes from 'Romeo and Juliet'. 🎭

On Friday, 28th April, all teachers at Twizel Area School will be involved in a Teacher Only Day to complete the necessary training.
