Ākonga in Room 8 have been enjoying the summer sun over the last week to work on their swimming skills! 🏊‍♀️🩳🩱

Children's author Alyse Boaz visited TAS this week, talking to ākonga in Rooms 9, 13, and 5 about what it takes to become a published author.📚

The New Zealand Rowing Championships were held last week on Lake Ruataniwha. The Twizel crews, once again, proved they can compete with the very best! 🚣‍♀️ 🥇🥈🥉

In stark contrast to the last day or so, the sun shone for Athletics Day with the temperature breaching 30 degrees. 😎 We saw some great performances and even better sportsmanship among peers!

This week Room 7 looked into Monochromatic self portrait art. 🎨 We learned that mono means one which is why we had to use one colour but in different shades and textures.

On Wednesday we were fortunate enough to have three members from North Otago Rugby come to Twizel to teach the Junior School some Rippa Rugby skills and drill. 🏉

Plans are currently being drawn up for the Middle School camps. 🏕️ Letters will be going home to all Middle School students very soon, but you can see the planned dates here.

Twizel Area School swimming sports was held last Thursday, for the first time since 2021. Children who were able to swim a length from Year 5 and above participated. 🏊‍♀️ The Sun was shining and it was a great day for everyone involved.

Over the first few weeks of the year Room 8 ākonga have been super busy, and have even taken inspiration from Wongi Wilson, who is creating the latest Twizel mural at the Community Swimming Pool!

Year 12 student Nexis has continued his hard work on his Gateway placement at High Country Salmon this week. 🍣🐟 He has been feeding the baby salmon and also learning how to gut and process the salmon!
