It was a great trip down to Dunedin for interested Year 13 students to visit the University and Polytech, this week. 🎓

Ākonga in Room 8 have been learning about fractions this week, using words, numbers and pictures to show their understanding. 🧮

Room 5 students have been working on a project centred around the theme of "Do the right thing!" The project is focused on utilising information and communication technology (ICT) and is designed as a challenge for the students across the Junior and Middle School classes.🎥

Last Thursday, the M4 students were given a unique opportunity to visit Genesis and their Hydropower plants located in Tekapo, providing them with firsthand experience and knowledge about the generation of electricity through hydropower.

Wednesdays are an opportunity for students to participate in various activities designed to promote a healthy mind and body. There's something for everyone, from yoga, to kapa haka, to chess. 🧘‍♀️♟️

Creativity was flowing this week, with ākonga taking part in 'Decorate your own Cupcake' on Monday Lunchtime.🧁

Congratulations goes out to Billy Garbutt for successfully applying and gaining an On-Campus Experience (OCE) scholarship for Year 13 secondary students of Māori descent to experience learning at the University of Otago. 🎓

Head and Deputy Students, Billy and Fred, look forward to a busy couple of weeks with the Southern Area Schools Tournament in Lawrence, and the Otago Tertiary Open Days.

The 2023 netball season got underway last week with all the Twizel teams performing well, with some excellent results.

Ākonga in Room 8 have had a busy start to the term that has included finishing their coding work, welcoming a new class member and learning about the ANZACs! 🤖 🤗 🇳🇿

Practices have begun this week, looking forward to the Southern Area Schools Tournament held this year at Lawrence Area School in Week 3.

Kicking off the term, we were fortunate enough to work collaboratively with the YMCA (Timaru) and the in-school Wellbeing Professional Learning Group to present a full-day teamwork and wellbeing day for our Middle School Students (Y7-10).
