Pipes & Diggers with Room 8

This week Room 8 has been connecting with our local Twizel Community by looking at the new pipes that are being put in outside the school and around town. We incorporated this with our visit from Nicki Tempero who is working on our digital fluency and various ways it can be used to show their learning.

Twizel Rowing Club Fundraiser

Twizel Rowing Club are fundraising to help cover insurance and maintenance on rowing equipment. Available from Sunday 7th November, sheep manure is $6 per sack with free delivery around Twizel township.

M3 Fabrics

November 3, 2021

Ākonga in M3 have spent the end of Term 3 and the start of Term 4 learning about technological outcomes and creating a distinctive soft toy owl that is uniquely theirs. The owls were made using recycled woollen blankets and students had to meet certain specifications that included their owl having eyes, wings and a tummy.

Netsafe has worked with Voices of HOPE, a mental health charity, on their new campaign, You Wouldn’t Say It To Their Face. This campaign highlights mental health issues stemming from online abuse and bullying. It involves a series of videos including lived experience interviews and a social experiment that shows the impact online harm can have on someone’s wellbeing.

Escape Room

Year 10 learners early in Term 3 were challenged with building an Escape Room. These learners, who were not attending snow club, were split into teams and assigned differently themed rooms – the catch – each room had to be connected to the others in some way so an end phrase would be decoded.
