After working through the ePro8 classroom challenge for a week, it was finally time for ākonga in Room 5 to face the ePro8 internal challenge where the teams would be competing against each other to win overall.

What a success! Our Matariki Parakuihi | Breakfast Club was a lovely morning filled with smiles, music, hot milo, salmon, fruit and sharing with one another. It was great to see students of all age groups and the staff come together as one TAS community to celebrate.

As part of his te reo / te ao Māori course, Year 11 student Jack McLellan was asked to make a presentation that tells a version of the story of Matariki. In his presentation, Jack also explains what each of the nine main stars of Matariki represents and what they mean.

A huge congratulations goes to Year 12 student Monique van der Westhuizen who has finished 3rd in the Young Enterprise Scheme mid-year pitch for her Gold Tiki Venture and now progresses to the Regional Finals. Monique also claimed $90 in prize money and the adoration of the judges who were blown away by her "level of professionalism and confidence".

During the Parent-Teacher Conferences, held today, the TAS Matariki Exhibition was available to view around the school. Students have worked extremely hard on their artwork and it's great to see the finished products displayed for all to see!

Last week the Junior School classes were offered Rippa Rugby training sessions, organised by Jason Forrest, the Rugby Development Manager from North Otago rugby.

The tamariki in Room 8 have been out and about doing a variety of activities and developing some new skills. This has included Netball and Rippa Rugby where they all demonstrated some superb skills.

Last week the Yarn Club ākonga were lucky enough to welcome some lovely helpers from the Twizel Knit and Natter Group!

Ākonga from M1 and M2 have been continuing their topic on Forensic Science this week, looking at blood spatter and they even had the chance to speak to a real Forensic Scientist via Zoom!
