Twizel Area School students have, once again, competed with the best of the best at the SGCNZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn National Shakespeare Festival in Wellington and proved that our little Area School can be just as successful.

Ākonga in Room 7 have been focusing on spending a little bit of their time during the day to work on their self-regulation. Room 13 introduced them to 'M3 Mindfulness'. The 3 M's stand for Māori stories, mindfulness and movement.

Next week, we will be sending letters out to families whose learners are becoming ‘at risk’ because of low attendance.

How can parents meet the needs of their kids, while at the same time teaching them responsibility so that down the track they can ‘fly the nest’ as competent young adults, capable of meeting their own needs?

For the past three weeks Team Bootcampers have been busy in the community stacking wood for anyone who needs a hand.

M1 and M2 ākonga have finished creating their videos! These videos show the procedure that police follow when a crime as been committed, and has taught students some cool new digital skills.

Ākonga in M2 are currently working on a unit coding Microbits. Microbits are pocket-sized computers that help introduce students to how software and hardware work together.

Yesterday lunchtime was the first meeting of the Yarn Club, with lots of fun had by all the students involved!

Room 7 ākonga were lucky enough to go and have a fun morning in the Gym with Mrs Frost, learning the basics of movement and space in gymnastics!

Room 5 ākonga have been working hard designing their CO2 dragsters, little cars that students can design, build, test, modify and race!
