This week, 85 students from Twizel Area School joined schools from Omarama, Waitaki Valley, and Duntroon to compete in the annual Upper Waitaki Cross Country at the Omarama Sale Yards. 🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏃‍♀️

We are delighted that three of our senior students were able to gain scholarships made available by the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs NZ and Mackenzie District Council to attend Outward Bound Trust of New Zealand for an 8-day course. ⛵️

This week, Year 9 and 10 learners have taken part in the nationwide classroom-based Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee. 🐝 The 2023 Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee Wordlist has 100 challenging and marvellous words for the students that want to participate in the National Spelling Bee. 🔤

Our school was again fortunate to have the young tertiary health students visit as part of their wider annual Rural Secondary Schools program.

The weather cleared on Tuesday for the annual Twizel Area School Cross Country, an opportunity for the whole school to come together and support each other, and have lots of fun to boot! 🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏃‍♀️

A group of Twizel Area School students were recently challenged to build a picnic table, in a collaboration with the Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs.

Last night we came together as a community to celebrate Matariki. We weaved, sang waiata, enjoyed delicious kai, and stargazed with astronomer Alan Gilmore.

TAS students joined Waiau and The Catlins to form a team to enter the Junior South Island Secondary Schools Netball tournament over the school holidays.

Year 12 student Finn continues to enjoy and learn real life systems while on his Gateway experience with thanks to Meridian Energy.

St Agnes Secondary Schools Music Group entertained students in Years 1-10 this week. The group of 70 students are from three separate secondary schools in Port Macquarie, currently touring the South Island.

It was great to see so many people dressed up last Friday for our Dress as a Person in Your Future Job Non-Uniform Day, all in aid of I AM HOPE. We had teachers, All Blacks, skiers, and even super heroes!
